Why do you think Bio Oil has become a cult product?
The simple truth is, Bio-Oil is a product that works. It has consistently, since 1987, delivered on its promise to improve the appearance of scars and stretch marks. Over the years the brand has received hundreds of letters and emails from customers telling us how they use and love the product. Most people who try it end up loving it.

What would people be surprised to know about Bio Oil?
The Bio-Oil formulation was the life’s work of Dieter Beier, a German chemist living in South Africa. He began research into oil-based skincare at Union Swiss in the mid ’70s, culminating in the launch of Bio-Oil in 1987. The challenge when formulating Bio-Oil was to create an oil that was light and non-greasy so that it could be easily absorbed into the skin. The breakthrough came with the inclusion of PurCellin Oil – an ingredient inspired by preen gland oil which is the source of the sheen and suppleness of a duck’s feathers. PurCellin Oil reduces the thickness of Bio-Oil ensuring optimal absorption of its key ingredients: vitamins A and E, and Calendula, Lavender, Rosemary and Chamomile oil.

The product has won several awards. Which has been the most meaningful?
Every single award we receive is meaningful in itself, and is a nod to the on-going love and trust that consumers have for the brand. If you visit the accolade section on the Bio-Oil.com website you will see that Bio-Oil has won 484 skin care awards from around globe which shows the immense amount of trust Bio-Oil has generated over the years.

You recently launched a new product. Tell us about the dry skin gel?
There are billions of dry skin sufferers across the globe, most of whom are using a dry skin product on a regular basis. Currently, they are using creams, lotions and body butters. These products are made from water – usually around
70%. This water evaporates when coming into contact with skin and is of no benefit to dry skin.
Bio-Oil® has pioneered a way to replace this water with oil, delivering a pioneering new way to treat dry skin.
Bio-Oil® Dry Skin Gel is the next generation in the treatment of dry skin. It takes the existing dry skin technology of creams, lotions and body butters and improves on it by replacing the in-active water in these formulations, with oil, making the product 100% active. It then delivers this formulation in a breakthrough new gel format.

How has the response been in this region so far?
Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel was first launched in the UAE in September 2018 and the reception has been fantastic. Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel and is now available in 21 countries around the world. In this short time it is already clear that Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel is offering consumers a superior choice in the treatment of dry skin. In France, which is the home of skincare, Bio- Oil Dry Skin Gel has already won two prestigious awards, the latest of which is ‘Product of the Year’.
