Beiersdorf is widening its market reach in North America as well as its position in the sun care area. Coppertone was one of the first sun care brands launched in the United States and will now be the fifth brand under Beiersdorf’s skin care portfolio, alongside Eucerin, Nivea, Aquaphor, and La Prairie.
In 2018, the brand generated sales of US $213 million. The company will have global product rights to Coppertone and take over an estimated 450 brand personnel across major departments such as Research and Development and Sales and Marketing.
This shift will happen across the United States, Canada and China. The contract is expected to close towards the end of 2019.
